Em Outubro já não estou cá, portanto

We are a generation made up of many generations. The flattening of a single way of feeling: at a distance. The elders used to say: know how to keep depth at the surface — but we no longer feel even at skin level. During our journeys, we sit facing forward, already imagining another trip, the one we’ll take when we reach a destination — always provisional, always fragile, always halfway to nowhere. We have become biological vessels of non-presence, and even the love we offer to others is merely a bridge between the now and the anticipation of its end.
By October, we’ll already be with someone else, in another home, at a different job, with a new pet. In the meantime, we wear some sweaters, shout a few slogans in the streets, and stroke our cat, all while preparing for the day when it too decides to leave.
It might be October, or it might just as well be any other month.
